Why the Hwy 105 job specifies 23 mil DFT: Pepper’s application rate for this project was a nominal 1.5 gallons per 100 sq ft. At GAF High Solids Silicone’s published 96.60% volume-solids figure, that application rate resolves to a nominal 23 mil dry film thickness (1.5 gal/100 sq ft ≈ 24.1 mils wet film × 96.6% volume solids ≈ 23.2 mils dry). That is the published application specification for this coverage rate, not a field-measured thickness.
GacoFlex S42’s data sheet (revised 07/2026) separately specifies a minimum 18-mil dry film at 1.25 gal/100 sq ft on smooth surfaces versus 1.75 gal/100 sq ft on rough surfaces, before job-specific losses — a result for the S42 product specifically, not a GAF test result or a blanket figure for every silicone system.
