Case Study: 7,500 SF Silicone Roof Coating — GoodYear Tire, Longview

Since 2020, Pepper Coatings has been servicing GoodYear Tire’s commercial and industrial roofing systems. We have completed silicone roof coating applications on metal R-panel, trapezoid standing seam, and Modified Bitumen (Mod-Bit) roofing systems across Texas and Arkansas.

This commercial roof in Longview was completed in June of 2021. It is located at 3725 East Loop Dr., at the intersection of East Loop Drive and East Loop 281 in an industrial and commercial corridor on the southeast side of Longview. It is just north of the Westlake Chemical Corporation’s industrial facility on the south side of Interstate I-20.

Pepper Coatings applied a silicone roof coating over the existing 7,500 sq ft rusted R-panel roof and restored the commercial roofing system, making it good as new and reducing the heat load on the building.

Our project scope was to power wash the roof, 3-course all horizontal and skylight seams with nylon mesh and silicone mastic, apply silicone mastic to all penetrations, and finally apply silicone roof coating over the existing R-panel roof.

Contractor tip: If a commercial roofer tries to sell you a rust inhibitor with a silicone roof coating, get a quote from another contractor. Silicone roof coating is a rust inhibitor.
